Additionally, the works of Derek Boshier, Khaleb Brooks, Stanley Casselman, Carrie Chen, Harold Cohen, Perle Fine, Keith Haring, Jann Haworth, Libby Heaney, and Recycle Group will grace this celebratory event.
Since 1992, Anthony Aziz and Sammy Cucher have collaborated under the moniker of the artistic pair Aziz + Cucher. Their journey as a creative duo has spanned various mediums, encompassing digital imagery, sculpture, animation, and video installations. Their body of work stands out for its unwavering focus on exploring the repercussions of technology on both the individual body and the societal framework.
Within their You're Welcome and I'm Sorry series, Aziz + Cucher employ satire to unravel the intricacies and enigmatic nature of the financial system. The adorned personas in these compositions are skillfully depicted through a juxtaposition of captivating textures and visual elements, serving to mesmerize the observer. The painstaking crafting of these pieces mirrors the artists' ongoing fascination with constructing dense, pixelated surfaces that symbolize the overwhelming influx of information characteristic of modern existence.
Bob and Roberta Smith bring forth captivating creations that seamlessly blend the realms of art and activism. Their artistic endeavors stand as a catalyst for social transformation, employing art as a potent instrument for inspiring viewers to deeply reflect on the world that envelops them. Employing sign writing paint on wood as their chosen medium, the artists imbue their pieces with a resounding essence that aligns with the very core of their concepts.
Meanwhile, the pioneering computer-generated art by Harold Cohen offers a mesmerizing convergence of technological prowess and artistic ingenuity. The pieces unveiled in this exhibition encompass a later phase of his artistic journey, wherein the Aaron program autonomously generated digital equivalents of preliminary layers on canvas. Cohen then deftly transformed these digital underpinnings into complete oil paintings, embodying an exquisite fusion of digital and traditional artistic methodologies.
